After 3 brain damaging papers, my classmates and I were so elated that our exams were finally over! Of course, this called for a mini celebration (or some sort) and so we headed down to Golden Mile Complex to have some Steamboat.

Unfortunately, the ‘famous’ stall in Golden Mile Complex ran out of Steamboat ingredients, and we were force to try out other stalls. So we settled for some stall tucked away in a corner. I couldn’t get hold of the name of the stall because it was all in Thai letters.

After studying the menu (it was really difficult to order because the menu was really confusing), we finally got down to ordering our food. Fortunately, it didn’t take long before our food were served.

The first dish was Pineapple Rice. Ok, I hate pineapple and I don’t know why. So each time when I have Pineapple rice, I’ll remove the pineapple, then the raisins, then the peas and corns etc.

Despite removing all these “ingredients”, I thought it was actually quite delicious! It was sweet, and the pork floss complimented with its rough and crunchy texture.

Next up was the above – Spicy Kai Lan. Though this dish looks harmless with small chopped red chillies and part of the garnish, it is actually very spicy to me! Gee, I had to take many sips of my cold drink to simmer the heat on my taste buds!

Thank goodness my classmates ordered an Omelette (actually I sorta requested for it hehe!) and it was such a familiar dish! Needless to say, I had quite my fill of eggs since I avoided most of the spicy dishes.

Last but not least, we ordered Tom Yam Soup. After all, we were in a Thai eating place. How could we resist a small pot of Tom Yam Soup? But likewise, do not be fooled. This is probably the spiciest Tom Yam Soup I’ve ever had. If you look carefully, you’ll notice lots of red chillies floating at the top of the soup!

You bet I squirmed and scrunched my face after trying a few sips, and never tried it again!

Despite my spicy encounter with a few of the dishes, being in the midst of my classmates was quite enjoyable. It’s my first outing with them and I must say, we should have more of such gatherings!

Kong Kong Tai Son

Tell me, who could ever resist a sumptuous meal filled with glorious seafood? That’s why, a group of us from Kruzer headed down to Kong Kong Tai Son Seafood Restaurant over the weekend despite the rain.

It stopped raining when we arrived at Kong Kong at about 5 plus. After settling down, I started exploring the place a bit more. Love how this restaurant overlooks the sea. So calming, surreal, and peaceful.

Other than being known for its food, Kong Kong is also known for its 2 giant fish. I call them FREAK fish because they are gigantic, huge, and enormous!

It didn’t take long before the food arrived. For all Seafood lovers out that, the following pictures would definitely make your stomach growl.

After all, there were a wide variety of seafood dishes such as Fried Squid, Mantis Prawns, different kind of shellfish (which names I’m not clear of unfortunately), and Bamboo Clams.

For those that were less passionate about Seafood, dishes containing chicken and eggs were ordered.

I hate to admit it but despite my fair liking for seafood, I honestly didn’t expect to be having shellfish. Ok fine, I assumed we’d be having the standard Seafood dishes like crabs and lobsters.

But hey, it isn’t all too bad. At least my taste buds were adventurous enough to try out new dishes like the “Gong Gong” (I think) and other Seafood which I’ve never tried before. So I must say, it was more like an adventurous seafood trip for my taste buds!

Run Grace Run!

Recently, dear has taken on a healthy lifestyle by jogging twice to thrice a week, and playing badminton with his dad and dad’s friends on alternate Thursdays.

I however, have been busy juggling with work and studies and so I keep procrastinating about embarking on a healthy lifestyle. So imagine this scene: dear is at home doing his static exercises, while I swivel in his roller chair and binge on potato chips (with heavy eyelids) while watching a show through his laptop. How ironic is that! A healthy boyfriend with an unhealthy girlfriend? You bet I was a little ashamed and embarrassed.

So I decided to do something out of the ordinary today. Yes, I decided to start jogging! Despite not exercising for god knows when, I was glad that my first run was pretty ok though my timing was a tad slow.

But hey, at least I took that step and am running towards a healthy lifestyle. Are you?

For this week and the next, I’m having the thing that every student dreads the most: examinations.

I guess it’s much more dreaded by students taking Part Time studies because juggling work and school requires lots of discipline and trust me, most of the time they’d rather be a couch potato and surf the channels on the television than practice a bunch of statistical questions or memorize concepts and theories.

It’s hard. It’s difficult. And even for me, I won’t deny that that are a few moments where I just flip open my notes and start dozing off.

But I know I am required to put in effort, to fulfill my obligations and self actualization as a student to pass all my modules and graduate smoothly.

So each time I get bored of studying (or when my eyelids get heavy), I walk around in circles reciting my notes. I talk to my rabbit. I do a few static exercises. I eat chocolates. I make myself a cup of tea. And what else, I refresh the Facebook home page a couple of times to see what’s new. Oh, and I blog. Just like what I am doing now.

You may laugh at me for my queer and peculiar methods. But sad to say, they’ve worked for me for my past examinations.

Well, enough blogging. Time to bury myself in my notes. Wish me all the best. *Crosses fingers*

Let’s see, the last time I joined a convoy was last year, when I was a pillion. Now that I am a rider myself, I finally joined a convoy for the first time!

Well it certainly was indeed a good experience to be riding with fellow riders in a disciplined formation even despite the slight drizzle. So anyway, we met up at Sembawang Park before moving off to East Coast Park for our barbeque and chalet. There, we ate to our hearts content and talked about the sun, moon, and stars (not literally).

All in all, it was a good time of food and fun. Thank you Victor and all the helpers for your effort in preparing! I really enjoyed myself throughly!

What’s Your Goal?

The word ‘Goal’ would probably be a very sensitive trigger in this World Cup Season. But in my post, the word ‘Goal’ refers to:

The result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end.
The terminal point in a race.

See as I was studying and revising for my coming exams, a certain module – Information Systems – had a chapter on Goal-Setting, Goal-Seeking and Transformation Process. To summarize the chapter, goals are being set by the owner of the system, who passes on the goals to the Goal-Setting control, which passes on information, goals, and methods to the Goal Seeking Control and thereafter, the Process.

Well, it did strike an epiphany and made me think about what our goals are, and where do our goals come from. Many would definitely agree that our goals in life include having a good career, starting a family, having a good health, making lots of money etc.

But has anyone thought of what are the goals for our very existence? And where do these goals in life come from. They must come from somewhere.. someone?

Well, I’m glad to know my goal for my existence. And even more so, I know where my goal comes from. Do you?

Yesterday, I came across an insightful article about having the ‘Marina’ Mentality for believers. Well I really think that it is quite an interesting illustration, so I’ll share it with you guys:

Most of us have the marina mentality.

What does this mean?

We on the marina have been saved and sometimes we are kicking ourselves and whacking each other due to difference in opinions that we lose track of those who are actually drowning.

Some of us Christians are drowning near the marina and are trying to stay afloat by holding on to things such as money, power, pleasures and positions. These are poor floating devices and we are actually drowning and the only way that we can stay afloat and be saved is to hold on to the life ring which is Jesus Christ and we on the marina must work together to throw out the life ring to others who are in the water and pull the ropes so that we can get people on to the marina.

As for us on the marina, we should not be treating it like a yacht club. We on the marina must be a rescue station and we must really work together as a team to pull the ropes of the life ring so that many more can be saved.

Once we the people start coming to church, we must be intentional in our language, songs and videos so that we allowed non christians to understand what is going on.

Lastly, you are never going to be saved, unless you humble yourself and know that you are drowning.

Ever felt several frustrations coming to you at one go that you just want to rant it out in a deranged manner, or drop everything you are doing and just walk away?

Well, today I had one of those mentioned moments. Even more so for me, it felt like something clogging my system; making my head all swelled up as the emotions get stuck there. Perhaps I’m stressed with my exams coming up, or maybe it’s the post PMS setting in. Either way, I needed a RELEASE.

Fortunately, I had the opportunity to do so without anyone seeing and boy..

It. Felt. AWESOME

It was quite unexpected and spontaneous that we landed up in Ikea Tampines on a Sunday evening. It all began with “where you’d like to go” and was eventually triggered by a response “I think I need a new roller chair”.

So there we were at Ikea Tampines, lost in the store and looking for the chair section. When we finally found it, I quickly looked for the chair I saw on the Ikea Catalogue online. Dear wanted something better, so he went to other swivel chairs and tried them out.

At the end of the day, I bought the TORBJORN swivel chair (as per the one I saw online) at $79.00, while dear bought his KARSTEN swivel chair ar $169.00. What’s the difference? Well, his has the tilt tension function whereas mine doesn’t.

We also ended up buying a laptop/bed tray for $9.90, a chair pad for extra padding, and some alkaline batteries.

What a spontaneous shopping session we had! Thank you dear for the roller chair too! Love it!
